Strong winds are downing trees and powerlines in communities throughout the Northstate.
A tree fell on a home on the 9500 block of Cohasset Road Shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday evening. A relative posted this photo to the Action News Now Facebook page and told us there were two adults and two children at home at the time, but they escaped unharmed. They are now staying in a motel in Chico.
A 60 foot Oak tree fell on a home on Lighty Lane in Paradise about an hour later. The couple who lives there were not home at the time. There were actually two downed trees, that fell in opposite directions. One clipped a corner of the home, the other destroyed a dog run. A boat was also crushed, and part of a motor home.
Two trees fell across Wyandotte Aveue in Oroville, and Chico Police reported a tree and lines down at East First Avenue and Arbutus, and a tree across a driveway off of the Esplanade near East Avenue.
Police advise you to avoid travel if possible until the storm blows through because with heavy rains, flooding is also expected to be a problem and the roads are dangerous.
