LOS ANGELES (AP) - The driver of a stolen taxi has been arrested after leading Los Angeles police on a two-hour, slow-speed chase.
Police say the man took the Bell cab at gunpoint around 1:30 p.m. Friday and then led up to six LAPD cars slowly through South Los Angeles.
The driver sometimes stopped to talk to bystanders, some of whom cheered or snapped photos. He also handed money to a child through the cab window and broke through a railroad crossing gate but had to stop for the train.
The chase finally ended when an armored police SUV struck the cab and other armored vehicles boxed it in.
As SWAT team members trained guns on him, the man climbed out the cab window and was arrested.
