Two men allegedly involved in methamphetamine sales were arrested Tuesday after one of them reportedly fired a stolen gun from inside a moving car.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area of Happy Valley Road and Erika Lane around 8:15 p.m. when someone allegedly fired a handgun out of a moving car. Bystanders told deputies nobody was injured, and they were able to describe the vehicle in question.

The vehicle in question was stopped nearby and two men, Cody Dupont and Clifford Shreder were detained.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found a 9 mm handgun, and several bags of methamphetamine. A search of the gun's serial number revealed it was stolen from a person in Oregon.

According to Shasta County Sheriff's Captain Anthony Bertain, Shreder said some of the meth belonged to him, and the investigation revealed Dupont had fired the gun.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing meth for sale, and Dupont is also facing charges of possession of stolen property, negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine while armed with a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
