Last month authorities came in contact with a man removing items from areas of Lake Oroville that are usually under water. Authorities initiated an investigation and searched the suspects home Monday, December 15th where they found thousands of artifacts that date back up to 6,000 years.
A large number of items, many of them arrowheads carved from stone, had various purposes such as tools to make baskets. The suspect was issued a citation for removing archeological features from state park lands, further charges will be forwarded to the Butte County District Attorney.
