STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Stockton police are under fire after a cellphone video showed officers grappling with and taking down a 16-year-old who was in a bus lane.

Tuesday's confrontation has sparked protests and a flood of angry comments to the police Facebook page.

Police say Emilio Mayfield scuffled with an officer who ordered him out of the lane.

Video shows the boy lying on a raised planter as he and the officer struggle over a police baton. The officer appears to swing the baton twice into the boy's face. Four officers eventually force the boy to the sidewalk.

He was cited for trespassing in the bus lane and resisting arrest and released.

The boy tells KOVR-TV he was "traumatized" and his family has filed a complaint with police.
