OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit agency's labor unions say they will tell frustrated riders in advance whether trains will be running Thursday or workers will possibly go on strike at midnight.

Service Employees International Union Local 1021 President Roxanne Sanchez told reporters Wednesday that the unions will make an announcement by 10 p.m.

Sanchez says she's hopeful that her union and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 will come up with a deal by then.

BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost says the agency has been flooded with calls and emails this week from people frustrated that they have not been told earlier whether trains will be running the next morning.

Neither side would say where negotiations stand. Talks resumed Wednesday after lengthy bargaining Tuesday.
