State of Jefferson advocates voiced their opinions today at the Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting.
No action was taken today, but supporters told the board they want to break away from the state of California. A lot of people at the meeting expressed feeling unfairly represented by California.
An item was placed on the June 10, 2014 Board agenda to consider the request for Butte County to support the State of Jefferson.
Last week the Yuba County Board of became the fourth county to join the movement. Glenn, Siskiyou and Modoc also support the State of Jefferson movement.
In a previous State of Jefferson meeting Butte County State of Jefferson Declaration Committee member Mike Wacker said “We want government closer to the people and we want them more responsive, because we know if you have local representatives that know what’s going on locally, they have the wisdom and they look the people in the eye every so often. That alone will have a better government.”
We will have more on this story tonight at 5 pm.
