The fires that continue to burn thousands of California forest land brought state emergency management leaders to the North State Tuesday.
Members of the California National Guard, Cal Fire, and the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES) visited areas impacted by recent wildfires.
OES Director Mark Ghilarducci said that we are just beginning fire season. "We've got a long way to go, and we need to be prepared for that, this is really more of a marathon, not a sprint for us, in regards to being prepared."
Since starting last week the Eiler and Bald Fires have scorched over 50,000 acres in eastern Shasta County. Today's rainfall and humidity level helped the ground efforts, but slowed attack from above due to visibility.
