Redding Police arrested an AB-109 parolee early Friday morning for allegedly stabbing a Corning man near the north end of the Sundial Bridge.
According to a press release, officers responded to reports of a stabbing on the bridge at 12:12 a.m. and found 20-year-old Dennis Womack suffering from a stab wound on his arm.
An Investigation revealed Womack and a few friends were under the north end of the Sundial Bridge when they were approached by a transient. The transient, identified as Michael Destin Ruonavaara, 33, brandished a large knife. Womack attempted to disarm him and was stabbed.
A K-9 search for Ruonavaara was conducted by officers. He was found in some woods about 100 yards north of Sundial Bridge.
Ruonavaara was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
