Splendor in the Valley XI returns to the late Cal Worthington's "Big W" Ranch near Orland Saturday, September 13th, at 5:30 p.m.
It's a benefit for the Glenn Medical Foundation. This year the goal is to raise the $55,000 needed to help the county's only hospital, Glenn Medical Center in Willows, install and get permits and training for a newly-donated mammogrm machine.
The theme of Splendor in the Valley this year is "Country Nights". It will feature music by country music artist Noel Haggard and his band, the Night Timers. Noel is the son of country music legend, Merle Haggard.
The event features a delicious sit-down dinner of either steak, salmon or a vegetarian entree, drinks, dessert, entertainment and dancing, and a silent auction that this year will include a guitar autographed by Merle Haggard.
State Senator Jim Nielsen will be emcee this year and will present a special proclamation to the Cal Worthington family in appreciation of the event, which has raised more than $400 thousand dollars over the years for the hospital. Worthington died unexpectedly just a week prior to last year's Splendor in the Valley.
Again, the event is Saturday, September 13th, starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $125. To buy one, or for more information, call Glenn Medical Center at (530) 934-1881 or visit mygmf.org.
