Special Olympic Flame of Hope tour rolls through the North State

The Special Olympics World Games begin in Southern California next weekend and the "Flame of Hope" made its made its last stop in the North State as part of the law enforcement torch run.

The flame has come all the way from Greece, where the Olympic Games originated. Law enforcement officials and Special Olympic athletes carried the torch from the Chico City Plaza to Bidwell Mansion Tuesday.

The games have historically been sponsored by law enforcement agencies, known as the "Guardians of the Flame of Hope."

The flame will be carried to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where more than 7,000 athletes from 177 countries will be participating in the world games, beginning July 25.
