The 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to benefit Tehama County Senior Nutrition takes place Friday, May 15th at the Red Bluff Community Center, at 1500 S. Jackson Street.
It's an important benefit that supports the Senior Nutrition Program that provides in home meals on wheels to elderly adults, and also provides group meals in senior centers. Governmental funding does not cover the cost of the operation, and there are regular waiting lists, of people requesting to join the meal program
This program is especially important in a county like Tehama, where many seniors are homebound in remote areas, or live alone and these meal delivery staff are their only human contact each day. It's a safety net program as well as a source of food for low income elderly people in our community.
The Dinner takes place Friday from 5:30pm to about 8pm. Dinner is at 6pm, and the highlight of the evening is a dessert auction at 7pm. There are also silent auction items.
Tickets are just $10. The event is organized and hosted by current and retired staff members from Social Services, Community Action Agency as well as members of the community. A fund has been established that allows for tax deductible donations even though it's a program mainly funded through government. That way people making donations can see a tax break.
It's best to purchase tickets ahead of time, but they will be sold at the door. For more information call (530) 527-2414. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate to the Senior Nutrition Program you can do so at www.tehamacountycaa.org. Click on the programs tab, then senior nutrition.
