ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California woman has been hospitalized after a rattlesnake bit her in her own bathroom.

KABC-TV reports that the snake had sneaked inside the 66-year-old woman's Anaheim Hills home and coiled itself underneath her sink. When the woman went in on Tuesday, it fell out and bit her.

Orange County Animal Care officers responded and removed the snake, relocating it to a location away from the housing development. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Animal control officers suggest residents seal openings around and under homes, control rodent populations, trim back bushes and remove stacks of wood and debris in order to deter snakes from coming inside.
