The manhunt is over for the Chico man accused of shooting his father in the neck and leaving him for dead.
Chico Police Lt. Dave Britt has confirmed 27-year-old Harry Akerson was just taken into custody in Butte County moments ago.
Butte County Sheriff's deputies took him into custody in Oroville this evening.
Sheriff's deputies received a tip around 5:00 p.m. Friday evening that the suspect who was involved in yesterday's shooting was in an apartment complex located on 83 Mono Ave, Butte County Sheriff Sgt. Jason Hale said.
When officers knocked on the door no one answered, that is when officers set up a perimeter around the apartment complex, he said. A deputy saw Akerson trying to escape from a back window that is when deputies surrounded him and took him into the Butte County Jail.
Akerson allegedly shot his father yesterday morning at a home in the eleven-block of Nord Avenue. Police say he took off in a silver jeep, that jeep was located this afternoon at the Joshua Tree Apartments in North Chico. His father, 50-year old Harry Tapp is still listed in serious condition at Enloe Medical Center.
A motive for the shooting has not been released. Action News Now will continue to follow the story and bring you the latest on-line and on Action News Now tonight at 10pm and 11pm.
