Soldier from Northern California dies in Afghanistan

A soldier from Eureka, California died in a non-combat incident in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Monday.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Sgt. Christopher Mulalley, 26, died Friday in Gardez, Afghanistan and the incident remains under investigation.

Mulalley enlisted in 2006 and was on his second tour in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, from Ft. Hood, Texas.
