Smoke from several fires burning in the region is impacting air quality in many parts of the north state this morning. The Northern Mountains, and the northern end of the valley are having the biggest issues for the start of your Thursday. Temperatures are starting out in the mid 60's for the valley, and mid 40's to mid 50's in the mountains. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the mid to high 90's in the valley, and into the mid 80's to low 90's in the higher elevations. Winds will start out from the North to 10mph, but will shift, and become out of the South towards the evening. There will be an increase in clouds, and the potential for mountain thunderstorms in the Sierra as early as this afternoon. The potential for showers, and thunderstorms will continue into Friday evening.
Temperatures will be cooler on Friday, with the valley only projected to be in the high 80's to low 90's. There will be a modest warm up this weekend, but temperatures should stay below average. Low to mid 90's will be in store for the valley from Friday, through the middle of next week. I hope everyone stays safe with the poor air quality across many parts of the north state, and has a great Thursday!
