An update on yesterday's house fire in Butte County that sent a Bangor woman to the hospital.

Fire investigators said the resident of the ranch home, who suffered smoke inhalation, has been treated and released.

There's still no word on the cause of the fire, which started Tuesday afternoon in a cottage behind the large home.

The fire quickly spread to a garage and then began to enter the attic of the larger home before firefighters arrived.

Even though Bangor is a remote foothill community south of Oroville, it is home to a CalFire station just minutes away from this home on McCaton Road, which investigators say meant the difference between moderate smoke and fire damage to the attic to total destruction.

Investigators estimate the fire caused about $75,000 in total damage, but they also estimate firefighters saved $300,000 in further damage.###
