A small kitchen fire caused some minor damages to a popular downtown Chico restaurant Tuesday night.
Chico Fire crews responded to Mom's Restaurant at West 2nd and Salem Streets just before 7 p.m.
Fire officials say an employee was walking by the restaurant, which was closed, and noticed a stove fire growing. Crews entered the business and extinguished the fire, then opened all doors for ventilation from smoke.
Fire crews inspected the inside and the roof of the building to make sure the fire didn't grow. The only damage was to the stove top and hood system.
Streets in the area reopened just after 8 p.m.
Mom's is working to replace their fire suppression system and expect to reopen for lunch Wednesday.
