Redding Police say someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of the Shasta County District Attorney’s office in Redding early Tuesday morning.
The Redding Fire Department responded to the office on West Street around 3:00 a.m. The device was thrown into the building’s crime victim’s assistance center in the northwest corner of the building.
A fire was ignited by the device, but the sprinkler system put the flames out quickly.
Assistant District Attorney Josh Lowery said water from the sprinklers caused more damage to the building than the fire. The fire damaged a carpet, a few chairs and part of a desk, but water damaged office supplies and computer equipment.
Nobody was injured.
