Plenty of reason to be excited for winter in Siskiyou County, especially for skiers and snowboarders. The Mount Shasta Ski Park is now open.
The park opened Thursday morning, a day ahead of schedule, with all three lifts running. Recent storms brought 18 inches of snow to the base of the park, and about three feet to the highest point.
More than 2,000 people were at the park Thursday morning, most hooting and hollering with excitement after a two year dry spell. This weekend’s crowd is expected to top 4,000.
It looks to be a good weekend to hit the slopes with more snow on the way. Two storms should hit Mt. Shasta Ski Park this weekend.
