Siskiyou County Sheriffs are investigating a possible homicide in the Happy Camp area.

Sheriffs responded to a report of a dead body in a residence on the 900 block of Curly Jack Road in Happy Camp. A Siskiyou County Sheriff sergeant located a deceased male in the residence. An initial survey of the scene led investigators to believe that the man was murdered.

Forensic technicians spent the night processing the scene and gathering evidence for the further investigation. Authorities are withholding release of the name of the victim until police can notify the next-of-kin.

Sheriff Jon Lopey said they are withholding any decisions until the investigations has run its course.

“At this time, the SCSO’s Major Crimes’ Unit is developing investigative leads, analyzing results of the crime scene investigation, and awaiting the results of a forensic autopsy, which is scheduled to be conducted within the next day or two,” he said.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office 24-hour Dispatch Center at (530) 841-2900.
