ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Northern California are searching for an 85-year-old man and his 90-year-old wife who went missing over the weekend and may have medical issues.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Tuesday that on Saturday afternoon crews went to the home of Sam and Maria Walko for a medical call.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Justice says the medical issue appeared to have passed. But crews contacted the couple's son, who lives in Europe, and recommended that Maria Walko be checked out at a hospital.

The following day, the son called police to say he couldn't reach his parents. They never showed up at the hospital. Officers went to the couple's home, but found no sign of them and their car was gone. Both have medical issues and may have become disoriented while driving. The son also told police the couple may be headed north because they have dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada.

They are believed to be driving a faded green 2001 Toyota Camry with California license plate number 4NHV446.
