Owner Kasey Pulliam-Reynolds says, "It's all hands on deck. We have every employee coming in and we’re dragging in all the family members. Got some celebrity scoopers, and just getting everybody that we can so we can get (customers) in and out of here quickly."
Since employees are anticipating a big crowd they will be offering a limited amount of flavors to try and keep the line moving.
"We're gonna sell tickets ahead of time so we're not having to deal with money inside the door. We're trying to set it up and make it flow as easy as possible so we can give away as many scoops as we can," says Pulliam-Reynolds.
The freezer's been filled with more than 60 gallons of ice cream, which adds up to about 4,800 scoops. The scorching hot temperatures expected this weekend are also having an effect on preparations. One of the big challenges will be keeping customers cool while they wait.
"I'm in search of tents as we speak. We've got lots of water jugs and water bottles. We’re gonna try to keep everyone hydrated and cool. Also got some fans ready to go to keep some air blowing on people," says Pulliam-Reynolds.
This isn't the first time Shubert's has gone big for an anniversary. The shop also held a similar celebration for it's 50th, and the Pulliam-Reynolds says she hopes to continue the tradition for future milestones.
“Chico's just such an amazing community and I think the whole reason we've been here 75 years is because we have the loyalty of generation, after generation, after generation. So I'm so excited to come give what little back that we can to the community that's been so great to us," she says.
The party will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. There will be live music, raffle prizes, and fun activities for the kids.
