Shots Fired on Nord Ave. in Chico

Chico police continue investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday night.

One man was taken into custody after allegedly firing a handgun at another group of men around 6 p.m. near the Walgreens on the 1100 block of Nord Avenue in Chico.

When officers arrived, they spotted three men matching descriptions provided by witnesses, walking away from the scene toward Nord Avenue. Witnesses identified 23-year-old Vincent Honeycutt as the man who fired the gun, but police never located the weapon. Honeycutt was found to be in possession of an illegal concealed blade.

A 14-year-old boy, with Honeycutt, was found in possession of metal knuckles, charged, and released to his parents.

The men who were reportedly shot at fled the scene and have not been found by police.

Police say they have not determined the motive and are working to find the other men involved. At this time, no injuries have been reported.
