Some savings are worth waiting for. And some savings are worth camping for.
“Right now I’m just getting a 32-inch flat screen TV for $227,” said Isaac Munoz, who has been camping outside of Best Buy in Chico since Tuesday night. He’s hoping to take advantage of the Thanksgiving Day discounts. But to do so, he first has to follow the code of the campers.
“You got to man your spot at all times,” he said. “You can’t just put your tent up and go sleep in your warm home.”
Despite camping outside as well, Debbie Morris’ family and friends don’t have to go home to sleep warmly. Their campsite has most of the comforts of home: a fireplace, couch, TV, stove and electricity from a generator.
And for those that say camping out for holiday shopping takes away from family time, Morris disagrees.
“I think we’re getting more quality time out here camping than if a whole bunch of people came over to the house,” she said. “We're making memories and that's what it’s all about.”
