Shooting in Magalia; One Dead, One Rushed to Area Hospital

(UPDATE) 1:57 p.m.- We now have a clearer narrative of the events which unfolded in Magalia this morning which resulted in one man dead and another transported to an area hospital.

This morning, Butte County Sheriff Deputies responded to the 1400 block of Northwood Drive to a report of a man being shot. When deputies arrived, they heard an additional shot and moved away from the residence from which the shot originated. While establishing a perimeter, deputies did locate the live victim across the street from the residence deputies were surrounding.

The live victim has been transported to a local hospital and his condition continues to remain unknown at this time.

As Deputies eventually closed in on the residence, they found a deceased man lying in the backyard. The Sheriff’s Office has indicated the incident is still under investigation, but they do believe the deceased male is the shooting suspect and have no other suspects at this time.

Both law enforcement officials and neighbors have stated the two men have had a history of negative disputes.

Butte County Sheriff Deputies responded to Northwood Drive near Imperial Way in Magalia this morning in response to a shots fired call. As they arrived at the scene officers found a live victim near the street and heard an additional gunshot. When officials entered the property they found a deceased male.

The surviving victim was rushed to an area hospital and his condition remains unknown at this time.

Responding deputies and neighbors both indicated the dispute between the two neighbors had been ongoing for some time. Deputies at the scene told our reporter they believe the suspected shooter is dead.
