Sheriffs nab Butte County serial burglar

A serial burglar is in Butte County Sheriff custody after he led investigators on theft spree that spanned several cities over several months.

Butte County Sheriff deputies investigated burglaries and car thefts occurring in Chico, Gridley, Oroville and Durham. After investigation, sheriffs developed a suspect Marcus Meyers, 24, and on Jan. 13, deputies located the suspect and approached the vehicle.

In the suspect’s vehicle, deputies located several stolen items including a loaded handgun. The suspect was subsequently arrested.

Further investigation led sheriff’s deputy Joshua Brazzi to a location in Paradise where the suspect stored thousands of dollars worth of stolen property including guns, jewelry and tools.

Meyers was booked into Butte County Jail on charges associated to burglaries in eight locations that sheriffs are aware. They are investigating a possible additional suspect and more possible locations that burglaries occurred. Meyers is being held on $82,000 bond.
