A Lake County Sheriff's deputy remains in critical condition after being swept into the ocean along the Mendocino Coast.

Deputy Jacob Steely and his 11-year-old son were both swept into the water by a rogue wave near Mendocino Point.

The son was rescued, treated and released from an area hospital. Steely remains in the intensive care unit at Enloe Medical Center in Chico in critical condition.

Fire officials say they were in a rocky area where there is no beach, and there was no way for them to get out of the water on their own.
