The Siskiyou County Coroner's Office says a McCloud man whose death was originally called suspicious, died of natural causes.
Steven Ray Guymon was found suffering from a "possible debilitating" injury Wednesday night and was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Mt. Shasta. He was eventually transferred to a Redding hospital, but died Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say an autopsy revealed Guymon died due to internal bleeding in the brain, and say his death was initially deemed suspicious because the hemorrhaging that resulted from the bleeding resembled those of a beating victim's.
Investigators say Guymon's internal bleeding likely went undetected for a significant period of time.
