The Tehama County Sheriff's Office arrested a Red Bluff couple for trying to rent out a home that someone else owned.
Last week, 28-year-old Erzebert Doughty of Redding apparently figured out that something was fishy about the couple who rented him a home in Cottonwood. It appears he was right.
Sheriff's investigators checked in with the supposed landlords, Michael and Connie Armsdon of Red Bluff and found out that they collected a $2,000 security deposit from Doughty. But investigators say the Armsdon are not the owners of the property and they allegedly had no permission from the real owner to rent the residence.
Both were arrested and booked on suspicion of grand theft.
