It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the state capitol. That’s thanks to the presence of a 61 foot white fir tree from the LaTour Demonstration Forest in Shasta County.
California’s official state Christmas tree arrived in Sacramento Tuesday, after being transported south by the Shasta-Trinity Cal Fire Unit.
The tree weighs nearly 8,000 pounds, and will soon be lighting up the west lawn of Capitol Park with hundreds of hand-crafted ornaments and thousands of LED lights.
This is the fourth year in a row the official state tree has been cut from a North State forest.
The tree will be lit on December 2.
