The Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted to reject the State of Jefferson after holding an open forum Tuesday morning.

Members of the public were given three minutes each to address the board, with the overwhelming majority of speakers expressing support for the Jefferson movement.

Tehama County voters expressed their desire that the county board of supervisors adopt a Declaration of Support for the proposed 51st state in the June primary election. Yuba, Modoc, Glenn and Siskiyou counties' elected officials have voted in favor of banding together in support of the Jefferson movement.

Shasta County now joins Butte County, where the board of supervisors voted against the State of Jefferson earlier this month.
