County Supervisor Les Baugh will open the doors to the Shasta County Board Chambers July 15 for residents that would like to listen to Monday’s Telephone Town Hall meeting planned to discuss the State Responsibility Area (SRA) rural fire fee.
Doors are scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m. The meeting, hosted by State Senators Jim Nielsen and Ted Gaines, Assembly Members Brian Dahle and Dan Logue, and area Board of Equalization Representative George Runner, will begin at 6 p.m.
“It is important to know that we are not alone in our opposition to this shameful fire tax. I believe a ‘show-of-force’ will have more impact on our legislators.” Said Baugh.
The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has long challenged the SRA rural fire fee as an unnecessary tax on county residents.
The Monday night gathering will provide a listening point only. Residents that want to weigh-in individually should still register at least 24 hours before the event at boe.calgov/townhall or call 916-445-3032.
Board chambers are located on the 2nd floor of the county administration building, 1450 Court Street in Redding.
