Shasta County Secret Witness offering reward in suspected murder

Shasta County authorities are asking for help cracking a murder case after a suspect was allowed to walk free this week due to a lack of evidence.

Shasta County Secret Witness is offering up to $10,000 for information about the suspected murder of Brandon Duvall, 31, in Millville back in June. An investigation into Duvall’s whereabouts began in September when deputies received a missing person’s report from the Stockton Police Department.

Shasta County authorities say they believe Duvall, also known as Quinn “Q” Goodman, went missing after being involved in an altercation with 28-year-old Elijah Arion off of Mallard Way in Millville in early June.

According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses say Duvall approached Arion after hearing gunshots and he has not been seen or heard from since.

In the moments after the altercation Arion allegedly made comments to the effect of “it’s like Eric Ratledge all over again”, a reference to a 2013 murder in the same area.

Shasta County detectives believe Duvall was murdered but his body has not been found.

Detectives say Arion fled, in the Nissan Xterra pictured below, to Florida after the alleged murder and a warrant for his arrest was issued earlier this month. He turned himself in to authorities in the Tampa area last Thursday, but refused to divulge any information and was released four days later due to a lack of evidence.

Anyone with information that could help authorities make their case against Arion is asked to call the Shasta County Major Crimes Unit at 530-245-6135, or give an anonymous tip by calling 530-243-2319.
