Shasta County's new Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility is finished and a ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. November 6, 2013.
The new campus is located at 2692 Radio Lane.
The County partnered with the State of California to replace the existing Juvenile Hall ... built in 1953. The old hall lacks the space needed to rehabilitate incarcerated youth. The State paid for $15.05 million of the $18.45 million dollar cost to build it.
The new facility is more than 46 thousand square feet with three 30-bed housing units, as well as classrooms, program rooms, offices and an outdoor recreation yard. There is also plenty of natural light inside.
Elected and public officials will be on hand for the grand opening, which will include refreshments and tours, and is open to the public. ##
