Shasta County sheriff's deputies are searching for two men who allegedly showed up at a man's home and assaulted him, killed his dog and then stole his car.

Richard Parker, 54, of Round Mountain called the sheriff's office early Thursday morning and told deputies that he had been assaulted by a group of suspects who proceeded to steal his car. Parker said the suspects arrived in an unknown vehicle and left with Parker's 1994 Buick Skylark, California license number 5PHX517. The vehicle is still outstanding.

Around 5 p.m. Parker called deputies again to report that he had found one of his dogs dead on his property. Parker told deputies he believed the same suspects who assaulted him and stole his car killed the dog.

Investigators say Parker has denied having any involvement with drugs and were not sure of the suspects motives, they did howver say his son had recently harvested a marijuana garden on the property next door.

Anyone with information on the vehicle's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at (530) 245-6540.
