A North State man has been arrested in the brutal murder of his elderly father. According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to 2020 Cabello Street, in the City of Shasta Lake Friday night. They found Salvadore Giordano, 83, deceased, with blood pooled around his head. Investigators say Giordano's wife, Carole, was not sure if Salvadore was beaten or stabbed. He had extensive trauma to his face and neck. An autopsy is scheduled.
According to deputies, Mrs. Giordano said their son, Stephen Matthew Giordano, had been staying with them, but he was not there when deputies arrived. They were told that Stephen Giordano had been violent towards his parents in the past. She told deputies that earlier in the evening, she had left the home while Stephen and his father were praying together about the 'ongoing disturbances.' She came home to find her husband dead, and her son missing.
Later that night, deputies received a tip that Stephen Giordano's truck was at a home at 1979 Shasta Street, City of Shasta. They say they found Stephen with blood on his hands, clothing, and boots, and arrested him without incident. They said upon questioning, he admitted to killing his father.
He has been arrested on suspicion of Murder.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said, due to the weekend, and the on-going investigation, no other details would be available regarding this case.
