A Shasta County man is recovering from a stab wound to the stomach while another is in the Shasta County Jail facing felony assault charges after a Monday morning argument turned violent.
Shasta County sheriff's deputies were called to a local hospital after a stab victim arrived on around 9 a.m.
The victim's wife told deputies the incident happened at their home on High Street in Old Shatsa. Deputies responded to the area and conducted an investigation, during which they learned the suspect Frank Edward Rouse was arguing with his wife, when the victim tried to intervene.
Rouse, who was in the process of making a sandwich, grabbed a steak knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach.
Sheriff's officials say the victim's injuries are not life threatening.
