Shasta County deputies seize pot, cash during traffic stop

Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men and seized 263 pounds of packaged marijuana during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

Deputies pulled over a Jeep Wrangler towing a U-Haul on Eureka Way around 12:30 a.m.

A sheriff’s office K-9 hit on the trailer and a subsequent search revealed 263 pounds of processed marijuana in packaged one pound baggies. Deputies also found an undisclosed amount of cash in the Jeep.

The driver, Tyson Scharf, 27, of Rocklin and the passenger identified as David Mireles, 31, of San Francisco were both arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and transporting marijuana.
