A campus alert is out at Shasta College, after three reported sightings of a mountain lion.

The sightings occurred last Thursday, near the south parking lot, by the dorms, and behind athletics department.

Security patrols have been increased, but officials warn students to keep safety in mind.

"Basically we don't want them out walking alone, and we would prefer that in the evening hours or dusk or in the morning that maybe those are good times not to be out," said Morris Rodrigue, Vice President of Administrative Services.

If you spot a mountain lion, you are asked to report it to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife at (530) 225-2300.
