SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police say the aunt of a 2-year-old girl killed in a hit-and-run accident has been arrested for leaving the girl alone in the crosswalk.
Police said Tuesday say 25-year-old Lorysha Gage aunt was taking care of her twin niece and nephew when she attempted to cross busy Mission Street against a red light with the girl Friday night while the boy remained on the sidewalk.
Police say Gage left the girl in the middle of the street while she went back to get the boy, and the girl, named Mi-Yana Gregory, was hit and killed by a car legally traveling through a green light.
The white sedan that hit the girl, however, did not stop and police are still seeking the driver.
Gage was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony child endangerment. It wasn't immediately clear whether she had hired an attorney.
