Several people arrested after probation check in Cottonwood

Several people are behind bars today after Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies discover several items of stolen property as well as a small scale methamphetamine lab in Cottonwood. Yesterday, members of the Shasta County Sheriff's Office along with members of the Shasta County Probation Department went to check on Melissa Chapman, 42, who is on supervised release. When they went to her Fourth Street home in Cottonwood, they found nine people, including Chapman at the home. Deputies also found several items of stolen property, including two mountain bikes worth $4,000 and a gas powered pressure washer and generator. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found at the home. Deputies also searched a storage unit Chapman had rented with Jeremy Ouellette, 38, and found a small scale methamphetamine lab that was being stored in boxes in the unit. Several people were arrested including Chapman and Ouellette. David Mayberry, 47, Joshua Chapman-James, 22, Trinity Conant, 29, and Michael Sullivan, 43 were all taken into custody. Two rifles, allegedly belonging to David Mayberry were also seized.
