Series of overnight fires near Redding human caused

Shasta County and Redding firefighters extinguished a dozen vegetation fires early Friday morning, and investigators say they were all human caused.

The first fire was reported just before 4 a.m. and the others were reported a short time later in the area of Highway 299 and Old Oregon Trail. The largest of the fires spread to a quarter of an acre.

Investigators say the fires were human caused and an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Cal Fire Shasta County at (530) 225-2418 or the Cal Fire arson hotline at (800) 468-4408.
