Being a setter on a volleyball team usually comes without the glory of getting a kill, but for Chico High setter Amanda Manning, there's glory in setting the table for her teammates.

"Setter is kind've like the Quarterback and you put the ball where you think you'll get the best option for a kill or a point," says Manning.

"Do you like being in that position of power, or control if you will?"

"It's definitely challenging," says Manning.

A challenge she overcomes with ease. Last season she led the Panthers with 742 assists, which was good for 5th in the Northern Section.

"It's something that you have stay focus and keep your mind working the whole game, and it's fun," says Manning.

Manning is not only a key member on the volleyball team, but she's also one of Chico High's top softball players and students.

In the classroom, she carries a 4.2 weighted GPA and sets an example for others to follow.

"It's all about time management. When I am packed with a bunch of stuff, I just have to make myself do it and just get it done," says Manning.

When it comes to school and sports, Manning is on top of her game. She's motivated to be one the of the best and with that attitude, it's safe to say, her future is "set" up for success.
