On Governor Brown's desk right now, Senate Bill 168 aims to protect emergency responders from drone interference.

Senator Ted Gaines introduced the bill after several incidents of drones getting in the way of firefighting efforts during California wildfires.

The bill would grant responders immunity to remove drones from the air by any means possible, without having to worry about being sued.

Drone users would also be subject to penalties, fines up to $5,000 and six months in jail.

"We got bipartisan support, we got no no-votes, and so we are continuing to urge the governor that this is the logical thing to do, its the right thing to do to protect our firefighters," Senator Gaines said.

Governor Brown has until October 11 to make a decision.
