One of the country's most prized trout fishing spots in Redding is now less than a week away from closing for the rest of spring and most of the summer.

A five and half-mile section of the Sacramento river from Keswick dam to the Highway 44 bridge will be closed to anglers beginning April 1 through August 1 over concerns for the endangered winter-run

Chinook Salmon.

Last year, state fish and wildlife wardens ordered for the first time the same section of river closed from May through July for the same reason to limit as much disruption to this key winter-run spawning area as possible before that, it had been open year-round.
