Searching for eggs in the dark, (not the hardboiled kind with dye)

A rough start to the day. No eggs in the house. We had dyed all of our eggs on Saturday for Easter. I started off to the store for eggs and Tide, (to catch up on the laundry.)

I first realized something was amiss when the traffic lights were out at 20th Street and Martin Luther King Blvd. in Chico. I drive up to Costco and an employee was greeting prospective customers, but the big metal doors were rolled down. He told me, as he informed the others, the power was out and probably wouldn't be back on until 11:30 a.m. or noon.

Yikes. Food Maxx dark. Next stop, Safeway on Mangrove. The store was dark, but customers were going in and out. Yes! In I go. I find out I like shopping in the dark, as noone can see my messy hair tossed about by today's wind. There were a couple of flood lights inside Safeway. Customers seemed to be in a festive mood, despite the inconvenience of not being able to see where they were going. And I realized, for the first time, my son had actually downloaded something on my phone, other than Angry Birds, that I could actually use, an app light. I searched through the darkness and found the eggs. Unfortunately, I had been gone much longer than anticipated. The bakery was stocked with fresh donuts. Wow, shopping in the dark and donuts for breakfast! A great day all around.
