JAYAPURA, Indonesia (AP) - Residents of a village in eastern Indonesia tell local police that they saw a passenger plane flying low before it crashed into a mountain Sunday with 54 people on board.

Rescue teams spotted the plane today, at an altitude of about 8,500 feet.

Authorities say five of those on board were children, and there were four postal workers carrying nearly a half-million dollars in government cash for poor families to help offset a spike in fuel prices.
