Search and rescue crews have suspended a search operation on the Feather River, saying reports of a drowning appear to be unfounded.
Law enforcement agents were called to Bedrock Park around 1:30 p.m. and put a boat in the water, but found no signs of a drowning victim.
A witness told police he was traveling northbound on Highway 70 when he saw a swimmer struggling in the water, prompting him to call 911. Police say they canvassed the area and spoke with several other witnesses, none of whom reported seeing anything out of the ordinary.
