VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - The Coast Guard has called off the search for a fisherman who went missing after his boat capsized in waters near Ventura.
Two men fishing for lobster Friday night outside the Ventura Harbor fell into the water after a 5-foot wave capsized their 15-foot vessel.
One fisherman swam to shore. The other, a 65-year-old whose name wasn't released, went missing.
The Coast Guard and Ventura County firefighters conducted a 12-hour search for the man using a helicopter, multiple boats and a dive team. The dive team halted efforts when a juvenile great white sharked bumped one of the divers.
The Coast Guard called off all search efforts Saturday morning after finding no sign of the man.
Agency spokeswoman Andrea Anderson says searches did everything they could and "exhausted all efforts."
